Dear Parents,
This week our Torah class continued our visit with
Abraham. He brought along his trusted " Chief of Staff",
Eliezer. Charging Eliezer with the
responsibility of traveling back to Aram-naharayim to find a wife for Isaac.
Eliezer was reluctant, but knew that finding a suitable
wife for Isaac would be good for the future of the Jewish people and so he
traveled with 10 camels carrying lots of gifts. When arriving he prayed to God,
asking God to make him successful in his mission. Making sure Isaac's future
wife would be kind and hospitable. God heard his prayers and Eliezer had Hakarat Hatov (
gratitude) in return for God bringing Rivkah ( Rebecca) to him. Our class spoke about the many themes in this portion of
the Torah;
Team
Building- Am Yisrael- being a part of the Nation of Israel- the Jewish people
Hachnasat Orchim( hospitality)- Acts of Kindness, for a reward or not
Tza'ar Ba'alay Chaim- Being Kind to Animals-The Ten Commandments for
Animals
In studying these themes the kids thought about their
contributions and how they live a life that is
holy and meaningful.Rabbi Starr, in his sermon last Shabbat ,spoke about how
we as Jews can counteract the antisemetic
acts that have taken place most recently in France. We can come together
and do something holy and righteous . Your children support this idea, with
your help, very often. They will have another opportunity this Sunday at our
CSZ Community Service Day, hope to see you there!
Shabbat Shalom
