Building Community in Kitah Dalet

Our Kitah Dalet students are an extremely bright, energetic, and thoughtful group, and this week we encouraged them to participate in a meaningful discussion about community.  We talked about what makes a community successful, and what our responsibilities to the community are.  As we sat together learning from each other, we laid the foundation for our Kehillat Kodesh, our sacred learning community.

As the morning progressed, we talked about the High Holidays and how our community celebrates the holidays together to make them more meaningful for all.  We talked about the concept of Teshuva, and the importance of looking inward to improve our relationship with GOD and others.  We talked about working on finding our flaws and turning things around when we fall short of our goals or expectations.  This is quite a sophisticated concept, and we will continue our discussions next week.  Until then, please ask your child to think about teshuva, turning things around with those they have hurt. Although our time together was short, we enjoyed getting reacquainted with each other, and look forward to a meaningful year together.

G'mar Chatima Tova, and may you and your family have a pleasant and relaxing holiday.
