Our Kitah Dalet students have been talking about the basic
tenets of the high holidays. Our
discussions centered on tefilah, teshuvah, and tzedakah, and the ways to move forward
in the coming year. Students shared
their thoughts and ideas on being Jewish, taking responsibility for observing
the commandments, and had some time to set goals for turning things around when
they make mistakes. We worked in small
groups and brainstormed ways to get along with others while taking
responsibility for the choices we make.
We introduced the idea of free will, and having control over our
behavior. Finally, we talked about making
meaningful apologies and the three steps to true teshuvah. Please ask your child to share these steps
with you, and ask them to do teshuva with a loved one. G'mar Chatima Tova!
