Thank you to all of the families who participated
in our Fall Fix-Up program Sunday morning.
The opportunity provided a
wonderful and rewarding lesson for both the adults and children in our group,
and our students experienced the true meaning of Gemilut Hasidim, performing a
loving act of kindness. They began to
understand that being Jewish commands us to do things for others because it is
the right thing to do, and we do these things not for recognition or rewards,
but because we are a community and we help others when we are able.
On Sundays we use the Torah as our textbook, and we
have been talking about being created in GOD’s image and each of us has free
will, the right to make the choices we choose.
This week we added in the concept of Yetzer Ha Rah and Yetzer Ha
Tov, the inclination to do right, and the inclination to do wrong. Our Tuesday afternoon students expand the
discussion from a different perspective, and we have been talking about doing
the right thing, ethics, values, and morals.
We continued talking about taking things that don’t belong to us, and added
in different scenarios. Ultimately, we
decided that things are not always as they seem, and sometimes doing the wrong
thing may not be as wrong as it seems. Please ask you student to share some of the concepts
with you.
